Pond Discovery

 Pond Discovery Saturday May 10, 1:00-2:30pm

Join naturalist Melissa Harrison as you stalk, catch, and release pond creatures, such as tadpoles, water tigers, dragonfly nymphs and pond skaters. 

Dress for the weather and wear rubber boots or water shoes. 

Meeting place details will be provided to all registrants before the event.

Birdwatchers can often identify birds without seeing them using their ears

instead of their eyes. Join professional musicians/local naturalists, Nova Pon and

Christiaan Venter to develop your listening skills that will aid you in birdwatching.

Dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes.

Using iNaturalist Workshop Saturday 15 March

Join naturalist Sue Ellen Fast for a workshop on how to use iNaturalist as a tool for identifying Bowen Island plants, fungi and animals, and how to make contributions to the knowledge of the island’s biodiversity.

In preparation download the iNaturalist app to your mobile device from the App Store or Google Play.

Dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes, we will be going outside.

Sunday 26 January 10– 11:30 am

Come on a leisurely walk with Alan Whitehead, DG Blair, and Will Husby, three veteran naturalists (silverbacks), as we observe and discuss the creatures, plants and features that we encounter along a trail in Crippen Park. 
Bring your binoculars and dress warmly, we are likely to stop often to observe and discuss the natural features we encounter.
